Unity and Hadith

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu’minin

The Prophet (peace be upon him) used his right hand for getting water for

ablution and taking food, and his left hand for his evacuation and for anything repugnant.

(Sunan Abu-Dawood number 21)

ADVICE ON UNITY BY SHAYKH ASHRAF 'ALI THANAWI (RH)

"People call for unity again and again but they do not unite. Do we
know what are the fundamental ingredients to make unity? They are
humility and giving preference to others over one's self. There can
never be unity between two arrogant individuals. And it can never be
realised until one is willing to sacrifice his own benefit, be it
physical like money, property and status, or whimsical like fame,
stature and public appeal. Without these two essential components
talking of unity is mere lip service and diplomacy to gain some
quick benefit. And once this benefit is achieved the factions
disunite to become mortal enemies again."

Ramadhan

Narrated Abu Huraira

Allah’s Apostle said, "When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained."

(Hadith of Bukhari vol 3 number 123)

Good Deeds

Narrated Ibn Masud

A man kissed a woman (unlawfully) and then went to the Prophet and informed him. Allah revealed:

And offer prayers perfectly At the two ends of the day And in some hours of the night (i.e. the five compulsory prayers). Verily! good deeds remove (annul) the evil deeds (small sins) (11.114). The man asked Allah’s Apostle, "Is it for me?" He said, "It is for all my followers."

(Hadith of Bukhari vol 1 number 504)

Prayer

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-‘As

Allah’s Apostle (peace be upon him) mentioned prayer one day and said: He who observes it constantly, it will serve for him as a light, as (burhan), an
evidence, and (as a means of) salvation on the Day of Resurrection. He who does not observe it constantly, it will not serve for him as a light, as an evidence, and (as a means of) salvation on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be with Qarun, Pharaoh, Haman and Ubayy ibn Khalaf.

(Hadith of Al-Tirmidhi number 201)

Narrated Rabi’ah ibn Ka’b

I was with Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) one night, and I brought him water and what he required. He said to me: Ask (anything you like). I said: I ask your company in Paradise. He (the Prophet) said: or anything else besides it. I said: That is all (what I require). He said: Then help me to achieve this for you by devoting yourself often to prostration.

(Hadith of Muslim number 235)

I am as My servant thinks I am. I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assemble better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm’s length, I draw near to him a
fathom’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed.

(Al-Qudsi number 15)

Prayers

Narrated Aisha RA

Allah’s Messenger said: The two rak’ahs at dawn are better than this world and what it contains.

(Hadith of Muslim number 354)

One companion asked, "O Apostle of God! Who is the person worthiest of my consideration?" He replied, "Your mother."

He asked again, "And second to my mother?" The Prophet said, "Your mother."

The companion insisted, "And then?" The Messenger of God said, "After your mother, your father."

(Hadith of Bukhari and Muslim)
